Statement of Faith & Our Beliefs
-
We believe in one God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
John 14:9-20, 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 5:1-12, Matthew 28:19
We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible. There is only one God who exists as three persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—known as the Trinity.
He created all things, both visible and invisible, from nothing. He is the Ruler and Redeemer of all mankind, governing and overseeing all things in accordance with his will.
He has all the attributes of divinity, including omnipotence, omnipresence, omnibenevolence, and omniscience (which includes foreknowledge) among others.
Genesis 1:1, Matthew 5:16, 45;6:1,4,8-9, Acts 17:24-28, Hebrews 11:3, James 1:17, Psalm 33:6-9
-
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the eternal Word, the one and only Savior. John 1:1, John 1:14, John 1:29, John 3:16, Philippians 2:6-1, Colossians 1:15-19, 1 John 4:9
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, both fully human and fully divine; Who lived a sinless life; Who suffered and was crucified as an atonement for sin; Who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day; Who ascended into Heaven; and Who will return in victory to rule forever.
He was the perfect sacrifice that was required for the punishment of sinful man. His death was a substitutionary atonement that turned away God’s wrath and reconciled us to God.
Jesus died upon the cross, was buried, and was raised bodily from the dead on the third day, thereby conquering sin and death. He now sits at the right hand of the Father where he reigns until he visibly returns to judge the living and the dead.
Luke 1:26-35, Colossians 2:9, Hebrews 4:15, Romans 5:15-17, Luke 22:47-24:53, John 20:24-29, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Acts 1:1-9, Colossians 3:1, Revelation 1:7-8, 11:15
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit. Who convicts of sin; who dwells within every Christian; Who helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us in prayer; and who empowers us to a fruitful Christian life. John 16:8, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19, 2 Timothy 1:14, Romans 8:26, Galatians 5:22-23,
The Holy Spirit is fully divine and the third person of the Trinity. His work includes convicting men of their sin and need of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit regenerates, or makes born again, the sinner, and He indwells the believer, helping him to overcome sin in his life through the process of sanctification, illumines him to divine truth and the knowledge of God, and intercedes for prayer. The Spirit also equips believers for service through the bestowing of gifts.

We believe in the Bible—God's Holy Word, Scripture. We believe God inspired the original writings of the Scripture and those original writings were consequently without error. Mark 12:36, John 14:26; 16:12-15, Acts 1:16, 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, 2 Timothy 3:14-16, 2 Peter 1:20-21
The Bible, as first penned by the authors themselves, was produced under the direct supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit so that all things recorded in the Bible, the canonical 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are infallible and without error when understood in the original meaning of the authors.
It contains literature of different genres, including history, poetry, wisdom, didactic, and apocalyptic, and should be interpreted to ascertain the author’s intent in accordance with these genres and historical, theological, and cultural context.
We believe that the Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith, truth, morality, and Christian living. Isaiah 40:8, Psalm 119:11, 105, Matthew 5:18; 24:35, Romans 15:4
-
We believe the Bible teaches that God is the Creator and Sustainer of human life; that God creates each person in His image; and that life is therefore sacred, from conception to natural death.
We believe that God creates each person as male or female; that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the "image of God" in humankind; and that each person's biological gender is an intrinsic, immutable aspect of his or her nature and identity. Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7, 21-22, Psalm 139:13-18
We believe the Bible teaches that God established marriage in the beginning as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman; that He has reserved sexual intimacy as an expression of love and commitment between married couples; and that any intimate expression of sexuality outside of Biblical marriage is sin. Genesis 2:23-25, Exodus 20:14, 17, 22:19, Leviticus 18:1-20, 22-23; 20:11-21, Matthew 19:4-6, 9, Romans 1:18-31, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 15-20, 1 Timothy 1:8-11; Jude 7
Man was uniquely created in the image of God as male/man and female/woman. As bearing the image of God, every human life is sacred from conception to natural death. Moreover, these two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image of God in mankind, and each person’s biological sex is an intrinsic, immutable aspect of his or her nature and identity. The first created man and woman, Adam and Eve, were created in a state of marriage instituted by God, which is a lifelong covenantal relationship between one man and one woman in which sexual intimacy is reserved for.
Any sexual behavior outside marriage as defined, therefore, is sin. Mankind was also created perfect and morally good. They freely chose, however, to sin against God. Due to their sin, all mankind is born into a state of sin and eventually commits personal sins.
Once a person is capable of moral accountability, he becomes a sinner and stands condemned before God. There is no one who is good, and thus he must rely upon the grace of God for salvation and to be born again

We believe in the Gospel—the Good News of Salvation.
• That man, created by God, willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. Isaiah 53:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23
• That salvation—the forgiveness of sins—is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7
• That one receives salvation by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, and confessing Christ, and that the Bible commands every believer in Christ to be baptized by immersion. Romans 5:1-2; 10:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 2:38, 3:19; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21
• That those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ are sent into the world to proclaim the gospel and to love and serve the world just as Jesus Himself did. 2 Corinthians 5:11-21; Ephesians 2:10; Matthew 28:18-20; John 20:21
Salvation from sin, death, and corruption of human nature is found in no one else but Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son. Sinners are saved (justified) by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. It is not in accordance with works so no one may boast. Man’s salvation is assured and protected by the power of God, the Holy Spirit given as a seal and guarantee of this salvation.
Salvation is not attained or kept by the power of man but is received in faith as proclaimed in confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, repentance, and baptism by immersion.
-
We believe:
One of the primary reasons God saves sinners is so that they will do good works, or become holy.
God desires all who are born again to live a life that honors him, not because they are saved or kept saved by doing good deeds, but because they are grateful to God for salvation and are enabled to live a more holy life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Believers are not to sin so that grace may increase. The primary work which believers are to practice is to love God and one’s neighbor. As such, when a Christian observes a brother in error, he is to confront him personally about his sin and follow church discipline as outlined in Scripture.
Although holiness is an important aspect of the Christian life, complete holiness (or entire sanctification) is impossible this side of eternity.
Believers will become perfect, or glorified, at the second coming of Christ at the resurrection when the eternal states of heaven and hell are consummated.
Ephesians 2:10, Romans 6:1–2. 1 John 1:8, Titus 2:11-14, 1 Peter 2:9, Romans 12:1, Ezekiel 36:26-27, Galatians 5:16
-
We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ, founded on the Day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere, and organized into local assemblies, called churches.
— Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47,
We believe the Bible teaches that every Christian should be an active member of a local church. Hebrews 10:24-25
We believe that the Elders of the church are the overseers of its affairs and the shepherds of its members; that they are the final interpretive authority of the Bible's meaning and application for the church; and that they are responsible for the oversight, instruction, edification, discipline, and restoration of church members.
1 Peter 5:1-4; Titus 1:9, 2:1-15, Hebrews 13:17, Matthew 18:15-17; Galatians 6:1; 1 Corinthians 5:11-13
We believe that the Bible instructs church members to:
• Meet together regularly for fellowship, worship, teaching, and the Lord's Supper. Acts 2:42, Hebrews 10:25; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
• Use our natural abilities and spiritual gifts to serve one another. Romans 12, 1 Peter 4:10, Galatians 5:13, 1 Corinthians 12:7
• Love one another, bear with one another, accept one another, and forgive one another. John 13:34-35; John 15:17, 1 John 4:7, Romans 13:8; Ephesians 4:2, 32; Colossians 3:14, Romans 15:7
• Seek unity, agreement, and peace with one another. Romans 12:16,18; 1 Thessalonians 5:13; Philippians 2:2; 2 Corinthians 13:11
• Encourage and build up one another. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
• Bear one another's burdens and pray for one another. Galatians 6:2, James 5:16
• Spur one another to love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24
• Submit to the authority of the elders of the church. Hebrews 13:17
• Support the church financially. 2 Corinthians 8:7, Malachi 3:10, 1 Timothy 5:17-18
• Pursue personal holiness and obedience to God's Word. 2 Corinthians 7:1, 1 Thessalonians 4:7, 1 Peter 1:15
• Strive together to fulfill the Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20
The church is the called out, or saved, people of God. She is the body of Christ and He is the head. She is composed of those who have responded to the gospel in faith, repentance, confession, and baptism by immersion. God has given the church the mission, known as the
Great Commission, to proclaim the gospel and make disciples of Christ. The Church is to come together at least every Lord’s Day (Sunday) to worship God through preaching of the Word, prayer, the Lord’s Supper, and fellowship of the saints.
The local church is governed by pastors and qualified elders who shepherd the church and is directed by deacons to minister to the needs of the saints. These leadership roles are to be filled only by men as taught in Scripture. Women, however, are permitted to minister (as deaconesses or otherwise) in accordance with their gifts and calling if they do not violate the biblical principle laid out in Scripture.
Every member of the church is to be active, using his or her gifts for ministry, loving one another, bearing with one another, accepting one another, and forgiving one another. They are to seek unity and peace, encouraging one another, praying for one another, and supporting the church and one another financially,

Before Jesus ascended back into heaven after his resurrection, he promised that he would return.
No one knows the exact time he will return, but every Christian is to be prepared and working until his coming. John 14:3, Acts 1:11, Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32, Matthew 24: 42-44, Luke 12:43, Matthew 25:14-30
-
When Christ returns, he will judge the living and the dead. Some will be resurrected to life while others to condemnation.
Those who are resurrected to life will be given new bodies and will dwell in the new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Those who are resurrected to condemnation will live eternally in a literal hell to suffer punishment for rejecting God.
2 Timothy 4:1, Acts 10:42, John 5:28-29, Daniel 12:2, 1 Corinthians 15:52-53, 2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1-3, Matthew 25:46, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, Revelation 20:15
